The purpose of this workshop is to empower individuals to become proactive bystanders in the face of anti-LGBTQIA+ hate. Attendees will learn about the historical and current context of violence against LGBTQIA+ individuals, as well as strategies for safe intervention using the 5 D’s of Bystander Intervention. Additionally, the presentation will emphasize the importance of standing in solidarity as allies for equality and justice within the community. By the end of the session, attendees will have the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and effectively intervene in situations involving discrimination and harassment directed towards the LGBTQIA+ community.
